Structural Principles from Class

In this project we used concepts from bending of cantilevers, balance of momentum and moment of inertia in order to have an effective crane. In terms of bending, we used Ddeform = -PL^3/(3EI) to predict the deformation at the tip of the truss, which is used to calculate the predicted lift. We also used conservation of momentum between the two sides of the lift arm to calculate the theoretical lift. Finally, since the cross section of our truss is a hollow triangle, we used (b1*h1^3-b2*h2^3)/36 to approximate the moment of inertia of the truss.
